Heading to Las Vegas? Looking to add a little adventure to your vacation? Well, look no further than the Fremont Street Experience! On Fremont Street, you will find Viva Vision – that crazy light show that stretches the length of 5 blocks, and the main attraction to a real rockin’ party! You will be treated to both live and DJ music, fantastic character interactions, budget friendly gambling, and cheaper cocktails, food, and souvenirs than on The Strip. You will also find "Slotzilla;" the ultimate Las Vegas thrill experience.
What is Slotzilla, anyway?

Slotzilla is a zip line attraction that was introduced to Fremont Street Experience in spring 2014. According to blog.vegas.com, Slotzilla was originally set to open summer 2013 but was pushed back to the following spring in order to perfect the thrill ride, and boy was it worth the wait! This is something I can attest to one, two, no, three times!
What should I know about Slotzilla?
To appeal to the different thrill levels of Fremont Street patrons, Slotzilla offers two different types of rides. The first level of excitement is for those who are just not sure they want the full package but are still interested in trying it out. This is called the “Zipline” experience. The second level is called "Zoomline." Zoomline is for thrill seekers who want to zoom through the air like a superhero; this is my kind of adrenaline rush!
Level 1: The Slotzilla Zipline is a seven story high, two block long ride in a seated position. This type of flight will run you about $25; cheap, considering all the excitement you get. But, if you schedule your ride before 6:00 PM (basically, before dark) you can save $5 on the cost! OK, they are basically giving it away now. If you are a budget traveler like me, this is a surefire bonus!
Level 2: The 'Zoomline.' Or, as I prefer, “The ultimate Las Vegas rush!” Imagine soaring free as an eagle over hundreds of people, even a couple thousand at times. You are cutting a straight line through the dry Vegas air as you glide down the length of Fremont Street; all 5 blocks. And, even if just for a few minutes, you get the opportunity to revel in your bravery for taking on this exciting adventure, all while you zoom along under the world’s largest video screen, well, you deserve it so pat yourself on your back and get to zooming, baby!

This unforgettable 11 story tall, 5 block long, super hero flying style experience will run you $45. To fly like Superman or Superwoman, that's cheap! And, if you book your flight before 6:00 PM, you are rewarded with a $5 discount! Wow! The deals just keep rolling in.
My experience with Slotzilla
I have personally taken on Slotzilla's Zoomline three times over the past few years. The first time I flew was in September 2016. Afterward, I decided that I must do it again! So, in July 2017, I went up for my second Zoom. The last time I took flight over Fremont Street was this past November 2017. What I can definitely state with sheer certainty is that each trip was an exciting adventure! In fact, I do not think that Slotzilla could get old in my eyes.

A little advice from a pro-rider
1.) Although you can buy tickets onsite via the Slotzilla ticketing office, if you are planning a trip to Las Vegas, it is best to buy them online ahead of time. There are many reasons for this.
Slotzilla is a big attraction for Fremont Street, which causes the ticket line to often be quite busy.
If you buy your tickets online, you are able to redeem them at one of the multiple kiosks available in the ticket office. I suggest you go this route; it is sure to save you time.
If you wait until the day of to purchase tickets, you will only be able to choose between what is left over from online sales. This means that you may not get your preferred flight time or type of ride.
The zoomline experience tends to sell out faster than the zip-line experience. This means you may want to soar like a superhero but you will be forced to sit like a princess if you do not purchase online ahead of time.
There are quite a few stairs leading up to the flight departure platform. If stairs are not ideal for you, Slotzilla does have an elevator available; just inform one of the attendants in the Slotzilla ticket office of your need to use the elevator.
2.) Keep in mind that although you may have reserved a specific flight time, your actual departure from the flight deck could vary up to one and a half hours. I believe the longest my friends and I waited from the time we hit the steps to the time we took flight was just over an hour. There are a lot of preparations and safety precautions that go into the Slotzilla experience. They are for your own safety, so patience may be a behavior you have to practice here.
3.) The time of year you book your Las Vegas trip can make for different experiences while waiting in line.
Summer Months: For summer months, my recommendation is to try to book a night flight. When the sun goes down, temperatures are a little cooler. I have been to Las Vegas twice in the middle of July and temperatures typically are between 112 and 118 degrees Fahrenheit during the day. Although they drop significantly after sundown, you can still anticipate hot temperatures at night. Evening July temps while we were in Las Vegas were high 80's. At the very beginning of your flight preparations comes the light suit, and you can remain in this flight suit for an hour before your actual flight. What I am saying is, although the suit is breathable, it gets warm while waiting to take flight during any mid-summer temp! So, dress accordingly and, again, book a night flight; it helps with the heat.
September & Early Fall: Temperatures definitely were lower than when we visited Las Vegas in July. Early September temperatures were around 100 degrees during the day. Evening temperatures were about 15 degrees cooler during the evening. We still got warm in September while waiting to fly like an eagle but it was more tolerable than mid-summer.
November & Winter Months: I ventured to Las Vegas during the Thanksgiving holiday in 2017. We booked our Zoomline flight for 11:30 PM this time and it was the latest flight we have taken time-wise and calendar year wise. It turned out to be the longest wait time we had, despite it being the least busy I have ever seen Fremont Street Experience. The day temperatures were very nice; mid to high 70's and even hit low 80's our last day. The evening temperatures were in the low to mid 40’s. I dressed in a long sleeve flannel shirt and jeans and felt fine standing in line but during the flight, it was chilly zooming through the air, so keep that in mind when booking your late fall and winter Slotzilla flights.
4.) Another thing to consider is alcohol. If you are too intoxicated, they will not let you ride and you forfeit the cost. Come on, it is for your own good and the wellbeing of the people walking the street below you. No one wants an unexpected vomit shower, nor do you want to be known as the person who spewed their guts mid-flight.
5.) Speaking of non-refundable tickets, you should know that after printing your wrist bands (your tickets) from the kiosk, your tickets become non-refundable, so if for any reason you cannot complete the zip or zoomline process, the expense is lost.
6.) Lastly, you are not allowed to hold anything in your hands or wear your own Go-Pro to record your experience during flight. You will be given a bag to put all your personal belongings in; wallet, purse, flip-flops, phone, etc. Slotzilla does offer their own flight recording system that connects to you for an additional cost. You also have the option to purchase pictures that are taken during and at the end of your flight. You can view and buy pictures at the booth where you exit Slotzilla.
So, if you have been thinking about taking on Slotzilla or have had questions regarding the process, I really hope this post helps. I also hope that when you finally get to the top and are ready to go, that you have the absolute time of your life! I know I always do!
