An exceptional List of 12 things to do in Downtown Las Vegas (with links)

What does Downtown Las Vegas have to offer in terms of entertainment outside of the usual? Check out this simple list of 12 things to do in Downtown Las Vegas.

1. Hangout under the Viva Vision Light Show - A one of a kind experience in a one of a kind town! And, if you are heading to Las Vegas toward the end of 2019, I encourage you to hold out for the new and improved Viva Vision. According to Travel Weekly, Viva Vision is receiving a $32 million face lift!

The one of a kind canopy that stretches the entire 5 blocks of Fremont Street Experience, will receive touch ups to make it 7x brighter with 4x the resolution. In addition, 12.5 million lights will be added. To top off the major remodel, a 500,000 watt sound system will be added. These improvements will increase Viva Visions run time from evenings only to 24/7 - 365 days per year! Now, sing along with me, "I wear my sunglasses at night..."

2. Hit up Slotzilla for some adventure packed zoom or ziplining! One thing you will not soon forget is soaring like an eagle (or sitting like a princess; whichever package you pick is up to you - we won't judge, promise!) over Fremont Street and under Viva Vision. It is an incredible experience for a budget-friendly price! Trust me, I have done it 3x now; you are sure to enjoy the ride!

3. Are you glutten for zombie punishment? Do you love AMC's The Walking Dead? Have you always had a desire to go one on, um, however many zombies you can take on (I mean they move pretty slow, right)? If so, this action packed Fear the Walking Dead Survival activity that was introduced to Fremont Street in August 2017 is the right kind of entertainment for you! There are, however, a few restrictions; participants must be 40 inches or taller, and if under 13 years old, must be accompanied by an adult.

4. Like good music, fun entertainment, crowds of people, and a hell of a good time? Fremont Street Experience offers 3 stages of live or DJ Music. If a party is what you want, a party is what you will get on Fremont Street Experience! Oh, and did I mention that it is FREE? Sorry, I almost forget the best part! Yes, this is the product of generous CEO's of casino resorts on Fremont Street. So, while you are jamming out to great musical talent, cheers these folks for making it happen for you.

Note: Check with Fremont Street Experience regarding the New Year's Eve party; this is likely the only time each year a purchased ticket may be required.

5. Free Slot-Pulls at 2 of Fremont Street Experiences main casinos (Binion's and Four Queens). You can win up to $2,500 on each free slot pull, or other great prizes! Why not try your luck; it is FREE!

6. Check out The Neon Museum - Full of Cool Las Vegas History! The Neon Museum is a non-profit organization that has collected, preserved, studied and exhibited iconic Las Vegas signs for over 20 years now (since 1996).

Just because The Neon Museum has only been open for 23 years (which is a great accomplishment), does not mean the vintage Vegas signs found within it are as young. In fact, The Neon Museum's Collections Manager, Tracey Sprague, informed me that The Boneyard; a space that is available for weddings, special events, photo shoots and educational programs, is the final resting pace for the Green Shack sign. The Green Shack sign that currently sits in The Neon Museum's Boneyard dates back to the mid to late 1930's! That is a whopping 80 years ago, give or take!

7. Photo Opp! If you are a 'photos equal memories' kind of person like me, you will definitely want to take the opportunity to have a free photo with one million dollars cash at Binion's Horseshoe Casino!

Now, do note that this very large sum of cold, hard cash is protected by a glass box and highly guarded; probably by giant men who bench press Ford F150's. Just wanted to put that out there.

8. Play Keno on the Worlds Largest Keno Board Located Outside "The D" on Fremont Street under Viva Vision! If Keno is not your go to Vegas game, at the very least get your picture taken with this giant attraction!

9. Check Out The Tank at Golden Nugget. The Tank is a 200,000 gallon shark aquarium located inside the Golden Nugget on Fremont Street. You may take a guided tour by a certified marine biologist or get a great view of the sharks swimming around in the giant tank while relaxing pool-side at one of the best pools in all of Las Vegas. Which leads me to my next item on the list...

10. Get a Day Pass to Golden Nugget's award winning pools. "The Tank" is an all ages pool that offers a unique experience; including shark watching. "The Hideout" is 21+ pool that provides more of an adult appeal and party vibe. Each pool has a $35 cover for non-hotel guests.

11. Check Out the Mob Museum - Just a 5 minute stroll down the road from Fremont Street Experience. The Mob Museum is known to be the national museum for anything mob related; whether on the criminal or law enforcement side. Although placed in Las Vegas, you will find authentic mob related memorabilia, stories, and historical accounts from all throughout the US.

12. Hangout in the Fremont East District - Las Vegas' Energetic Downtown Restaurant and Bar Scene. Born in 2002, Fremont East is comprised of 6 blocks and is home to some really great and affordable restaurants, bars, cafes, lounges, gambling halls, and boutiques.
