Are you planning a Las Vegas vacation? Is Fremont Street Experience on your list? Did you know that there are a number of inexpensive, and even free, attractions that typically go unseen and undone in Downtown Las Vegas?
Over the past few years I have learned an incredible amount about Downtown Las Vegas. One of my major takeaways during our exploration of this fabulous district in Las Vegas is that Downtown Las Vegas has so many amazing things to offer outside Fremont Street Experience. Sadly, they tend to go unnoticed, simply because people are not aware they exist.
So, the next time you head to this magical city, save yourself some money and checkout these 10 free selfie worthy attractions in Downtown Las Vegas.

Home to vast displays of glorious antiques and historical artifacts from all around the world. Main Street Casino & Hotel is a little downtown gem that is often overlooked by Vegas vacationers because of its smaller size compared to some of the larger casino resorts in Las Vegas. However, I highly suggest you take a self-guided tour through this very unique property and check out some of the gorgeous old-fashioned designs.
A few musts...
Mezzanine - See a very sophisticated billiards room display that looks like it belongs in a very affluent mansion.
Have a drink at Boars Head Bar - There is a railway car attached to it!
Berlin Wall Exhibit - Boys, you must not forget to stop in the men's room (yes, the men's bathroom) before you leave to take a selfie at the wall! It is an original piece of the Berlin Wall and today it holds up urinals in the Main Street Station Casino!
Elegant Staircase - The Main Street Station has a gorgeous moderately winding outdoor staircase that is very "Gone with the Wind" inspired. In my personal photo-op opinion, it would make for a very frame-worthy picture.
Did you know that you have a shot at winning some serious dough when visiting Fremont Street Experience and you don't even have to gamble a dime of your hard earned money?
Head over to Binion’s for your free slot pull and chance at winning $2,500!
Luck not on your side here? Four Queens also offers a free slot pull and chance at winning $2,500, or other perks and prizes, for free!

Warning Below!!!
Now, notice that I stated you have two free chances at winning. There are only two legit free, no strings attached, slot pulls on Fremont Street; one at Binion's and one at Four Queens. You may come across other slot pull gimmicks on Fremont Street or in Downtown Las Vegas; however, these are managed by time-share companies that try to suck you in with a very eye-catching free spin ploy. Don't be duped; go to Binion's or Four Queens for your slot pull fun and leave the others to those who did not read this post, and therefore did not receive this warning!
3. Fremont East
Did you know that Downtown Las Vegas has its own version of the “Hollywood Walk of Fame?” Sidewalks of Fremont East are home to some really cool plaques with famous Las Vegas names and historical events. Grab a cocktail and take a stroll down Old Vegas’ fame and fortune memory lane. Some may surprise you, some may bring back old memories, all are free to see!
Did you know that Downtown Las Vegas has its own microbrewery? Banger Brewing opened its doors in Downtown Las Vegas on December 27, 2013 and has been serving up their delicious craft beers to customers ever since.
This company has a rather unique story and I am a sucker for a good story. Banger Brewing is a creation that developed from a shared passion of five high school friends. Long story short, these five friends refused to take no for an answer and kept pushing until their dream became a solid reality, and so a brewery in Downtown Las Vegas was born.
Next time you are in Las Vegas, schedule yourself a free tour of Banger Brewery. After the tour, sit down with a Banger Brewery sampler and discover which brew better suites your pallet. I mean, why not? These are the same guys who said, “Our beer is a reflection of our city: sexy, classy, and one of a kind.” How could you not want to taste that?

5. A Giant Yellow Fire Hydrant!
And, it works! Did you know that one of the world’s largest working fire hydrants is in Downtown Las Vegas? Yes, you heard me correctly; a giant yellow working fire hydrant. This 14.5 foot tall yellow beast is located on Fremont Street, just a couple blocks down from Slotzilla. A picture in front of this purposeful attraction is definitely worth the few extra steps away from Fremont Street Experience, don't ya think?
Did you know that the first casino to open its doors in Las Vegas was Golden Gate? The 113 year old property is located at 1 Fremont Street, Las Vegas. That is a pretty awesome liberty to hold the #1 address in Downtown Las Vegas, literally.
If you are looking for some genuine old-school Vegas, you must make a stop at Golden Gate! Oh, and don’t forget to get a picture in front of the famous Las Vegas Golden Gate “Rock” sign. A Las Vegas fixture that you have likely seen in movies and photographs, and can officially see in person on your next Las Vegas vacation.
At The California on May 29, 1989, a man by the name of Stanley Fujitake rolled the dice on a Craps table for over 3 hours! 3 hours and six minutes to be exact. That is insane! You can find Stanley’s name and record, as well as other impressive dice runs, on the Golden Arm Wall of Fame located between The California and Main Street Casino.
Who has your back? Cali has your back? When it comes to good luck, anyway? What I mean is that they placed a large Buddha near the hotel registration desk for extra luck. You can never have too much good luck in LV. Head on into The California and get your Buddha belly rubs in before your gambling shenanigans begin. Who knows, maybe that is just what Stanley did before he became a Las Vegas Legend?
9. Historical World Series of Poker Era
Binion’s Horseshoe Casino is the place that put poker on the map! It is the original home of the World Series of Poker tournament. The very first World Series Championship game was held at Binion's in 1970. Yearly, poker players gathered at the Horseshoe to compete for the opportunity to be crowned "World Champ." The cash prize for this was a pretty nice motivator too!
By 2005, the fact that the WSP tournament had outgrown its birth venue; that and some additional political hoopla, was cause enough for the new owners of the WSP (Harrah’s Entertainment) to find the tournament a larger home where it had room to continue blossoming. RIO All-Suites took on the WSP and it has grown even further since its move.
Although sad to see it go, Binion’s honored the WSP at the Horseshoe by displaying mementos from poker years past. One being a poker table with signatures of previous winners. Binion's also honored the WSP hisotirical winners by creating a "Wall of Fame.” So, while you are on Fremont Street, step inside Binion’s to check out the very cool history that assisted with the growth of Las Vegas!
10. Pretend to Own a Million Bucks
Now, I know that pretending to own $1Mil in cold hard cash is not as fun as actually owning it; however, it makes for a good picture! In keeping with the Binion's theme, you can have your picture taken with $1 million! Now, the stack of cash is sealed tight in a glass box and heavily guarded, but cash is cash!
Be a part of history and reserve your Vegas Vacay with Binion's
Cheap Bonus Info:
Did you know that Zappos, the famous online shoe mogul, is headquartered in Downtown Las Vegas? Me neither! Well, not until I began really exploring Downtown Las Vegas! Personally, I love everything about Zappos! I love their business model, their enthusiasm, their theory on employee satisfaction, the fact that they took a chance headquartering their global company in Downtown Las Vegas, and because of it, the positive economic impact they have made. Also, I love that Las Vegas' “Downtown Project,” is led by Zappos’ CEO, Tony Hsieh. Not only did he believe Downtown Vegas would be the perfect spot to grow this business, he believed in the city as a whole.
From what I know about Zappos, and I know a decent amount but that is a whole different article, Zappos truly is the whole package in terms of how they run their global business. I know what you are thinking, “That’s great, Abbey, but what does Zappos have to do with my upcoming Vegas vacation?” Well, did you know that for as little as $10, you can tour the Zappos campus? There is even a portion of the tour that involves a ball pit! Oh, I want to work here so bad! I guess I will settle for touring.
