Planning a Vegas vacation but not particularly keen on emptying your entire bank account, as well as giving up your arm and a leg while at it? Good thing for you, Fremont Street Experience offers many low cost lodging options, as well as cheaper food and drink choices than on The Strip. Also, you are more likely to discover cheaper table games and less expensive, and even free, entertainment on Fremont Street and in the downtown Las Vegas district!

Fremont Street Experience, perfectly situated between Main Street and Sahara Avenue in Downtown Las Vegas, is a party haven for Vegas Vacationers. Spanning five whole blocks and 100% closed to the flow of automobile traffic going east and west, Fremont Street is chocked full of unique fun to be had. In fact, I feel confident stating that there is no possible way the 24/7 festivities could disappoint any vacationer.

Since transitioning from its previously dubbed name, “Glitter Clutch,” in 1995, Fremont Street Experience has seen a major increase in visitors. In fact, although the fabulous Las Vegas Strip will always be a vacationing favorite; these days, it seems Fremont Street's casino resorts are definitely in high-demand! Meaning, many Vegas vacationers are choosing to rest their heads, for the little time they rest when in the entertainment capital of the world, at one of these wonderful casino hotels, as opposed to just visiting for a few hours and heading back to The Strip.

Below, you will find 4 undeniable reasons why you might want to reserve your Las Vegas hotel at or near one of the Fremont Street Experience hotels, the next time you vacation to this fabulous city!

Vegas.com has the best deals on Las Vegas shows!

I have purchased 6 Las Vegas shows through Vegas.com and each time was pleasantly surprised by the discounted cost!

THE SPACE

Five blocks is a decent sized piece of real-estate but compared to The Strip, the size pales in comparison. But, that is not meant to be a bad thing! It is incredibly impressive that for a lesser amount of space to explore, there is so much to do! Not only is boredom not on the menu here on Fremont Street, but neither are complicated long routes to other casinos, bars, restaurants, and so on. Bottom line; navigating in and out of casinos and other establishments on Fremont Street, is a super easy and quick foot commute.

Special Note: It is a great space to stay in during anyone's Las Vegas travels; however, for my fellow travelers out there who have a bit more difficulty getting around, Fremont Street is great. You get all the Vegas excitement, yet you are never too far from your casino/hotel, in case you need to return for some rest.

THE GAMES

Sure, you can find high-roller gambling areas in pretty much every casino in Las Vegas. However, what you will find more of in casinos on or near Fremont Street are $5 and $10 dollar minimum per hand table games. It is very difficult to find tables on The Strip that offer minimum buy-ins below $15. They are out there, but very few and far, far between.

Have an amazing time in Las Vegas on a budget by spending time on Fremont Street

If you do get lucky and locate a $10 buy in table on The Strip, you will probably be fighting for a seat at it, figuratively speaking, of course (I hope).

At Fremont Street Experience, you are more likely to find a seat at the table of a lower buy-in amount, simply because there are more of them. So, if you plan on spending a lot of time bellied up to a card table, you may want to look a little more into booking your hotel near or on Fremont Street.

Casinos on Fremont Street and Downtown Las Vegas where you can likely count on finding $10 minimum or less tables:

  • Fremont Street

  • Golden Gate

  • El Cortez

  • Main Street Station

THE HOTELS

To incorporate my research side, I took to Expedia and looked up the average cost per night for ten casino resorts in Downtown Las Vegas during the first week in April, which is considered to be a "peak week." Each of these resorts is either near or within Fremont Street Experience. What I discovered is that the average cost per night is $57.40, with $78/night being the highest cost (Golden Nugget) and $41/night being the lowest cost (Plaza Hotel and Casino).

My research, of course, is highly variable. I only used Expedia and only one week of the entire 52 we have in an entire calendar year. It is possible that you may find a better deal or even a higher rate average, depending on, well, many things; time of year and date of search are two. My point, you can get pretty economical hotel stays on or near Fremont Street Experience.

Just for kicks, I took the same dates previously listed, plugged them into Expedia once again, and opted to sort by price. What followed was a list of casino resorts from cheapest to most expensive. What I discovered is that seven of the ten Downtown Las Vegas hotels near Fremont Street Experience were listed before a single one of the casino resorts located on The Strip. Even more, of the five main casino resorts seated beneath Viva Vision on Fremont Street, two of them were listed in that seven.

THE ENTERTAINMENT CAPITAL

Las Vegas is distinguished as "The entertainment capital of the world;" Fremont Street Experience really holds true to that statement too! In fact, right there in the middle of the blocked off street, what you will come across are amazing live cover bands, and sometimes even professional bands owning the stage as they perform our favorite songs. You will also find incredible DJ’s spinning modern dance tracks, street vendors selling unique merchandise, bazaar and fun street characters, and street performers – dancers, magicians, acrobat artists.

Plus, the beautiful and magnificent "Viva Vision;" the famous light show heard about around the world. It is the largest light show in the world, stretching the length of Fremont Street. Other attractions you cannot forget to check out are "Fear the Walking Dead Survival Attraction" that opened Spring 2017, as well as "Slotzilla" for my fellow adventure hearts out there.
