4 Michigan Cities Perfect for a Bachelorette Party
Ann Arbor, MI

Ann Arbor is one of those great cities where you can pretty much do it all! Do not worry about choosing between one or the other, thanks to Ann Arbor's close proximity layout, your daytime and nighttime activities will likely be within walking distance of each other, or at least a really quick Uber or Lyft ride. So, whether you want to club it, pub it, taste it, or heck, hit up all 3, thanks to Ann Arbor providing you with a minimal foot commute, you will have time in your schedule for all!

Now, let us discuss the daytime activities. The Kardashian's may have a glam squad on speed dial, but most of us well-deserving women are not so lucky. However, on your special day, well, second special day, you deserve to be pampered and glammed! Ann Arbor is blessed with an abundance of spas and salons that can take care of your entire bachelorette party.

Are you a fit queen or flexible yogi? One of the many things I love about Ann Arbor is that it is a very healthy and fit community! What tends to blossom in fit communities are plenty of great group workout classes and stress relieving yoga studious. You can whip your squad into shape at an Ann Arbor kickboxing or Orangetheory class or get limber at one of the great yoga studious, before the remainder of your bachelorette party extravaganzas! During summer months, you can find yoga classes, as well as other fitness classes, in the University of Michigan Diag (an outdoor common space; kind of like a quad) and in other parks around Ann Arbor. Just make sure to check the Ann Arbor Events Calendar prior to your bachelorette weekend to see what is offered.
For the athletic bachelorette; check out “Air Time,” an Ann Arbor trampoline park, “Whirlyball,” for some go-cart basketball or “Planet Rock” an indoor rock climbing adventure. Ann Arbor also has plenty of shopping; indoor malls, outdoor strip malls, downtown boutique shopping, and so on. I definitely recommend checking out Kerrytown Market & Shops. Also, if you are in the mood for a good laugh, check out Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase. If you just so happen to be a July bachelorette, try to fit your girls getaway into the week the Ann Arbor Art Fair is in full swing; people come from all over the US to experience it and I must say, it is spectacular.
Now, you cannot spend an entire night, day, weekend, or however long your bachelorette party lasts in Ann Arbor, without eating! Check out Yelps! top 10 restaurants in downtown Ann Arbor!

Grand Rapids, MI

Grand Rapids is actually one of the most beautiful and fun cities in Michigan! It is loaded with so much cultural art and natural beauty; pretty much every view of Grand Rapids is breathtaking. If you are a bride-to-be who is into microbrews, then “Beer City USA” is the place for you!
Be ready to taste many different Michigan brewed stouts, ales, lagers, porters, IPA’s; the list goes on and on. Not a microbrew fan? Not to worry! Grand Rapids is also home to plenty of wineries/vineyards. I mean, is it even considered a “girls trip” if wine tasting is not on the itinerary?
Oh, you are neither a beer, nor wine fan? You say you only indulge in that hard stuff. No judgement here; to each their own. And, I guess it is a good thing Grand Rapids is into the distillery game as well! Seriously, Grand Rapids is not lacking opportunity; there is something for everyone, and I am not just talking alcohol.
Grand Rapids offers many fun activities that your gals and you will definitely enjoy! What is your take on pedal taverns? The “Grand Rapids Pedal Cruiser” is a sure-fire way to turn up your bachelorette party excitement! If you are experiencing Grand Rapids late spring, summer or early fall, you want to make sure to get this on your list of things to do; it is an exciting way to see the main parts of the city, as well as bond with your gals.
Of course, Grand Rapids has plenty of shopping and spas available for the traditional R&R escape (see links below). However, for the adventure bachelorette, there are plenty of fun outdoorsy activities to be done in and near Grand Rapids. Take a day trip to Lake Michigan and hangout at the beach for the day or book a daytime canoe, Kayaking, or tubing river trip.
Maybe, your favorite band, musician or group is performing at Grand Rapids' Van Andel Arena or Fredrick Miejer Gardens, and perhaps you might want to plan your bachelorette party around it? I do not blame you; concerts are an awesome time! Especially when you get to share the melodic memories of your go to tunes with your favorite gal-pals! Quick note: Van Andel Arena hosts Cirque du Soleil and other organized performances as well!
If your bachelorette party falls during the 2 weeks of “ArtPrize;” a very popular time of year in Grand Rapids to experience artistic culture and festivities, there will be plenty of additional entertainment in and around Grand Rapids. Keep in mind that hotels will be a bit pricier during this time of year. I personally have experienced ArtPrize and boy is it something amazing!
You are going to need to book a honeymoon in addition to your bachelorette party!
APPLE VACATIONS is the King of All-Inclusive Vacations
Detroit, MI
There are many options for fun in Detroit that most are not aware of. Detroit has three beautiful casinos, many concert and comedy venues, numerous bars and five-star restaurants, and an abundance of "things to do." Also, all 4 Detroit professional sports teams are located directly in Downtown Detroit, so if you are a sports fan, the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Pistons are at your disposal... well, watching a game, not the actual team. Trust us, there is much fun to be had in this fun filled concrete jungle.

My recommendation is to book a few rooms or a suite at one of the casinos; Motor City, MGM Grand or Greektown. My favorite of the 3 is Greektown, simply because of its location. Greektown is walking distance from all the sports arenas, Michigan Theater, Fox Theater, The Fillmore, and there is a secret (it is not really a secret) Greektown street of fun!
Actually, the entire block around Greektown is home to many great restaurants and bars; Monroe Street (the northwest side of Greektown) is the most exciting part of this nightlife (and daytime) hot-spot. During special occasions, or pretty much every weekend in the summer, this block is shut down for a DJ’d street party!
A few must see Detroit areas that deserve mentioning are listed below.
Eastern Market - Open year round on Saturday and on Sunday and Tuesday from June through September. The architecture, graffiti make for beautiful and unique photo backgrounds and the merchandise and food sold is great!
Campus Martius Park - Open year round; however, offerings and activities depend on the time of year. For instance, winter months bring out the ice skating rink and summer months bring out the urban beach! Campus Martius is an internationally awarded urban park in the heart of Detroit and is home to some great restaurants and bars. Friday's from Spring through mid-Fall, you can find Food Truck Friday's to be a hopping time at Campus Martius!
Detroit Distilleries - Detroit has two really nice distilleries for tasting opportunities and tours; Detroit City Distillery and Two James Distillery, both are worth checking out!
Punch Bowl Social - Here, you can grab a delicious dinner, unique cocktails, play some cliché bar games like pool and foosball or go bowling! Yes, you heard me correctly; there is a bowling alley right there in the restaurant and bar! If you are planning a Detroit based bachelorette party, the Punch Bowl Social is a must for your gals and you!
Belle Isle - For the outdoorsy, nature and sea-life lover, check out the many attractions, like the nature zoo, aquarium, giant slide, hanging out in the water and more. Another option, take a river boat tour of the Detroit River! “Diamond Jack River Tours” is a great option!

Lansing, MI

Lansing has many offerings that are pretty similar to the other Michigan cities on this list; spas, salons, bars, nightclubs, restaurants, shopping, comedy, outdoor and indoor activities, festivals, and so on! However, there are 4 unique things that set Lansing apart!
First, if you are hosting a bachelorette party in a month when the minor league baseball team, “Lansing Lugnuts,” is playing, you may be able to pull a public acknowledgement of your bachelorette and even get her some time on the mound!
A very good friend of mine did this for one of the bachelorettes she knew and it was a very neat experience! Lansing Lugnuts Administration even allowed her to throw the first pitch! This event came with a meet and greet with the players too! There are 2 ways to go about this; contact the front office to inquire and/or connect with media relations via social media.
Second, the Wharton Center! The Wharton Center is a wonderful performing arts center on the Michigan State University campus and it hosts many great Broadway on the road shows; musicals, plays, big name comedians, musicians, orchestras, and more! I have been to 2 musicals and a Blue Man Group show at the Wharton Center and all 3 events were spectacular and there really is not a bad seat in the house! Even the 'nose bleeds' are good seats!
Imagine seeing one of your favorite shows with a group of your favorite gals! First, you have dinner and a show. Then, you have the after party! For the record, can we give Jeff some major kudos for attending Flash Dance and Dirty Dancing with me?
Third, the many Lansing, Michigan festivals! One of the things I love most about Lansing, aside from the green and white, is all the wonderful festivals held in Capital City! There are two big concert festivals in Lansing, one in June and one in July.
If the bachelorette party you are hosting is in June and country music is a crowd fave for your girls, try to schedule it during the weekend of “Taste of Country” If the bachelorette party is during “Common Ground Music Festival” at Adado Riverfront Park, checkout the lineup to see if one of your most-loved music acts will be performing! I promise you, if your posse and you decide to party it up in Lansing during one of these two festivals, you are sure to have a great time!
Fourth and final reason I love Lansing for bachelorette parties (or any celebration) is that it has many different fun and unique districts!
Take it from a Michigan State University Alum; East Lansing and MSU is a fantastic district of Lansing to enjoy great food at spectacular restaurants and indulge in a good time at the many campus district bars and clubs!
Old Town is a super cool and booming district of Lansing. Old Town often has some fun festivals; especially during the late spring, summer, and early fall time of year. The culture in this district is very artsy and hipster and the restaurants in Old Town are always on-point! I particularly have to throw a shout out to Meat Southern BBQ! Oh my goodness; the 'carnivore cuisine' here is so good it should be famous! Oh wait, it is! MSBBQ is so delish, it has been featured on the Big Ten Network and Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.
Downtown Lansing, where the Lansing Lugnuts are located, and a grouping of really fun bars just across the street!
Lake Lansing Road is sort of the “commercial district” of Lansing. Here you will find some fine and fun dining, lots of shopping, spas and salons, and so on. If your girls are sushi fans, “Maru,” is amazing with a capital “A!” There are some additional areas that you can add to your bachelorette weekend itinerary throughout Lansing and in surrounding areas; above are just the basics to help get you started.
