Why I Spent Both Evenings During My Vegas Vacation at Fremont Street Experience

If you have read any of my other articles or are familiar with my blog, then you know that I am one heck of a Las Vegas lover! Just last week, my boyfriend and I gallivanted off to this fabulous city that we adore so much for a short 2 night and 3 day stay.

Although my boyfriend and I chose to stay on “The Strip” this trip, we spent both evenings downtown on Fremont Street. Now, do not get me wrong, I do love evenings on the Las Vegas Strip as well (I love evenings just about anywhere in Las Vegas). That said, there were a number of factors this last trip to our favorite city, that drove us to the decision to spend most our evening time during our short Vegas vacation at Fremont Street Experience.

Why Did I Spend Both Evenings During My Vegas Vacation at Fremont Street Experience?

1.) EASY LOCATION TO MEET UP WITH FRIENDS

We had three friends who were staying at “The D,” located right on Fremont Street, due to cost savings. It was really easy to plan a meeting spot at Fremont Street Experience and then to actually find our friends too!

Side Note Regarding The D: Our friends stayed at The D because the hotel offers fantastic rates. Despite being in a prime location; Downtown Las Vegas right on Fremont Street, The D’s hotel rates typically are hard to beat. Also, random, but important for those looking to visit Las Vegas on a budget but still want a good hotel experience, all three friends said that staying at The D was a great decision. I did see one of the hotel rooms and it was very nice, clean and modern, and had a great view. Plus, and the ladies will appreciate this more than the men, The D provides Bath and Body Works toiletries!

2.)FREE CONCERTS

Fremont Street offers free nightly concerts on the Main Stage of the busy five block strip and Saturday, July 21st was “Eddie Money,” um, heck yes I definitely was attending this concert! I love classic rock and Eddie Money has some awesome jams!

3.) GAMBLING (Kind of a long one but worth reading)

Neither of the individuals in our party of six was doing very hot on the gambling front on The Strip, so we thought we would take to Fremont Street Experience; we were hoping that a change of scenery would give us a change in luck.

Sometimes, you can find cheaper gambling and ‘hotter’ tables down on Fremont Street. Let’s talk Blackjack, shall we? In reference to Blackjack, cheaper tables are not always the case. In fact, I first vacationed in Las Vegas nearly 13 years ago (around my 21st birthday) and the group I traveled with and I all stayed at Binion’s Horseshoe Casino on Fremont Street. At this time there were many $5 minimum hand tables at Fremont Street Experience; I loved it! However, over the past few years, I have noticed that the average minimum on Fremont Street is around $15 minimum per hand and on the weekends, these $15 minimum per hand tables fill up very fast.

During this last trip, the first night in Las Vegas (Saturday) two friends and I were lucky enough to all get a seat at a $15 minimum per hand table at one of hte casinos on Fremont Street and I actually did win! However, the second night (Sunday), I did not have as great of luck finding an open $15 minimum per hand table. I did, however, get on a $25 minimum per hand table and lost four hands in a row…see, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose and it does not even matter if you are on The Strip or Downtown on Fremont Street.

With that said, I can honestly state that I have won more playing BlackJack on Fremont Street than I have on The Strip. When I took my boyfriend on his very first Las Vegas vacation, we spent almost four hours on a Blackjack table at “Four Queens,” which is one of hte main four casinos at Fremont Street Experience, and for three of those hours, it was a $10 minimum per hand table (often times, during the day and earlier in the evening, you can find $10 minimum tables). Even more exciting, we both walked away pretty big winners. I guess experiences like that are what keep me returning to the tables at Fremont Street Experience. Again, it is predominately luck of course; sure, there are some simple rules to follow, however, I still feel like I have been luckier downtown overall than on The Strip.

4.) THE VIBE

I may not be able to promise you a big win at one of the casinos on Fremont Street; however, one thing I can say for sure about Fremont Street Experience is that the vibe is untouchable. Fremont Street Experience never fails to provide the perfect vacation atmosphere. Well, just as long as you are looking for a laid back, carefree party-like environment. Neon lights are always dancing, trendy music is always humming from giant speakers, drinks are flowing smoothly, with very little wait time, from the vast amount of bars up and down the five street blocks, casinos are very inviting (duh), the talented, and sometimes crazy, street entertainers and characters are always out in full effect and, no matter their background or where they came in from, vacationers always seem to be having the time of their lives. It is a great thing to witness.

5.) CLOSE PROXIMITY

With it being mid-summer and Las Vegas temperatures in the low 100’s during the day, Fremont Street Experience is great because everything is so close together. You have the option to wander in and out of at least five of the eight Fremont Street Experience casinos while only spending seconds outdoors. Plus, Viva Vision basically is one giant canopy for shade! It can be really hot out under that Las Vegas sun; trust me, I have been to Las Vegas four times during the summer. Although I love the sun and enjoy the heat, even I need to find some shade at times. So, if shade is what you desire, Fremont Street Experience offers an abundance of it!

Check it out; you know you want to...

6.) CHEAPER DRINKS AND FOOD

As I previously explained, our vacation party was not doing all that hot with the gambling portion of our trip; temps were up but the lucky streak was way down. Which brings me to cheaper food and drinks. Another reason why we chose to head to Fremont Street Experience was because you can typically get food and drinks at a bit of a cheaper price than at some of the larger casinos on The Strip. If you are a pizza lover like I am, head over to "Pizza Rock" in the Fremont East district (incredibly short walk - maybe 1.5 blocks). They offer delicious, large slices of pizza for a decent price!
